RTK Centimetre-Accurate Survey

Photogrammetry &
Aerial Mapping UK

Professional photogrammetry survey and aerial mapping for industrial estates, infrastructure assets and CNI sites. Centimetre-accurate RTK georeferencing. 3D point cloud, orthomosaic and mesh outputs in open formats.

Accurate spatial data is the foundation of every infrastructure decision. Without it, planning, maintenance and compliance work is based on assumption. A single photogrammetry survey creates a georeferenced baseline that pays dividends across asset management, planning submissions and emergency response for years.

Centimetre Accuracy

RTK Georeferencing

Ground control points established with Emlid RS3 RTK GNSS deliver centimetre-level positional accuracy across the full survey area. Every output — orthoimage, point cloud and mesh — is georeferenced to the same coordinate system.

Multiple Outputs

One Survey, Many Deliverables

A single photogrammetry capture produces a georeferenced orthomosaic for planning and GIS use, a dense 3D point cloud for volumetric and structural analysis, and a textured 3D mesh for visualisation and digital twin use. All from the same flight.

Professional Processing

Agisoft Metashape

Industry-standard photogrammetric processing using Agisoft Metashape Professional. Rigorous quality control throughout — tie point density, reprojection error, accuracy report and GCP residuals all documented and provided with delivery.

Open Format Standards

System Integration

GeoTIFF orthomosaics integrate directly with ArcGIS, QGIS and CAD workflows. LAS point clouds work with all major point cloud processing platforms. OBJ meshes import into BIM and 3D visualisation tools. No proprietary format, no platform dependency.

Large Area Capability

Industrial Estates and Infrastructure

Canopy has specific experience mapping large industrial estates and linear infrastructure assets. Multi-day survey programmes planned and executed efficiently with weather contingency built in.

Digital Twin Foundation

From Mapping to 3D Model

Photogrammetry survey data is the foundation layer for digital twin generation. Combined with LiDAR and thermal datasets, it enables a fully integrated 3D asset model that supports inspection, planning, emergency response and maintenance optimisation.

What operators need to know

What is photogrammetry survey?+
Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs. In drone survey, overlapping aerial images are captured systematically over the survey area and processed using photogrammetric software to produce georeferenced 2D and 3D outputs — including orthomosaic imagery, dense point clouds and 3D mesh models. The process uses the overlap between images and known ground control positions to calculate accurate 3D geometry across the survey area.
What accuracy can I expect from a drone photogrammetry survey?+
With RTK GNSS ground control, Canopy typically achieves horizontal accuracy of 1-2cm and vertical accuracy of 2-3cm across the survey area. Actual accuracy depends on flying altitude, ground control point density and distribution, and terrain characteristics. An accuracy report is provided with every deliverable, documenting GCP residuals and reprojection error.
What outputs are delivered from a photogrammetry survey?+
Standard Canopy photogrammetry deliverables include: a georeferenced orthomosaic (GeoTIFF) suitable for GIS and planning use; a dense 3D point cloud (LAS format) for structural analysis and volumetric measurement; a textured 3D mesh (OBJ format) for visualisation and digital twin use; and a technical report including accuracy assessment and processing parameters. Additional outputs including DSM, DTM and contour data are available on request.
How long does a photogrammetry survey take?+
Survey duration depends on area size and required ground sampling distance. A typical 50-hectare industrial estate requires half a day to one day of capture operations. Processing typically takes three to five working days. Larger areas are delivered on a programme basis with interim milestones. All timelines include weather contingency.
Can photogrammetry data be combined with thermal survey data?+
Yes — and this is a significant advantage of using Canopy for both services. Photogrammetric and thermal datasets share the same RTK georeferencing, enabling direct spatial alignment of the two datasets. Thermal anomaly locations can be overlaid on the 3D model and orthomosaic, giving facilities managers precise location data for every finding in the context of the building geometry.
